About

The City of Tides is the hub site of me, Jeremiah Mattocks. My blog offers skewed perspectives and irreverent commentary. Expect an abundance of fiddle-faddle, flimflam, twaddle, tommyrot, balderdash, bushwa, and poppycock—which also happen to be my favorite words.

Coversation

It’s like we’re having a really one-sided conversation right now. (Photo taken by Carissa Mann)

I’m an aspiring writer and an unapologetic geek. I love experimental fiction, technology, web comics, Internet culture, and classic sci-fi. I’m also an avid blog reader and on-again-off-again blogger with experience in Internet media marketing and website design.

When my brain isn’t plugged into the World Wide Web, I’m prone to scribbling like a madman in one of my writing journals. I also enjoy reading real books made from mashed up dead trees. Sometimes these books have pictures in them. In fact, I bet I read more graphic novels than anyone you know.

In 2009, I graduated from the Western Washington University with a BA in English with a creative writing emphasis and a double minor in philosophy and religion. I’m currently pursuing my dream of entering the publishing industry by interning at The Perseus Books Group in New York City, and I’ve been seeking freelance work on the side.
